Schema
Schema consist of Mark Smith, Lee Davis, Sean Lamy and Lee Dorrington. The foursome are based in Jersey, Channel Islands. Since their formation, based on a burning desire to produce and play their own take of a Breakbeat, Dubstep and Drum & Bass infusion, they have recieved support from some of the biggest names in the scene.
2009 saw the guys introduced with a live appearance and guest mix on Jay Cunning’s Breakbeat Sessions show on Kiss FM. This was followed later in the summer with a monstrous D.J slot on the Breaksday stage at Glade Festival, which went down as one of the highlights of the Nu Breed hosted Sunday. Schema’s first single, a double A side dubstep project entitled ‘Chutney Grip’ was released in autumn on 720 Bass’s Wicky Lindows label, found airtime on Radio 1 and has earned itself a re-release as a vocal version and remix package.
As well as remixing Cut La Roc’s ‘Looking For The Deep Bass’ for Ben & Lex’s APE records, 2010 has already seen the lads join forces in the studio with two of the scene’s heavyweight names for collaboration projects, in the form of Pyramid and Afghan Headspin.
Jay Cunning himself has signed Schema to Sub Slayers, and their first outing on the label is a remix of Gella’s ‘Twinkle’ featuring $pyda, on the B side of the original, which has been hailed single of the month in DJ Mag, International DJ, and Titillate’s March editions. In addition to this fantastic opening chapter in the Schema story, Sub Slayers will be releasing Schema’s much anticipated four track E.P – ‘A Day Of Small Victories’, due out in late Spring.
They hold residency at the huge ‘Theology’ club night and with the D.J bookings at highly regarded U.K events such as Beats & Bob’s, Fracture Clinic, and BREAK!, starting to fill an ever increasing workload in the diary, coupled with running their own nights and events at home these lads constantly have their finger on the pulse of the scene and without doubt are only on their way up through the ranks.
